Leo grew up in North Oakland, at a time where the process of gentrification has partially swept the neighborhood. Being displaced at a young age, suffering from homelessness, and other experiences helped Leo unbound resilience.
MERCER is a group of artists who strive for a generation of youth who are strong willed, socially aware and committed to having a positive impact on their communities by promote and providing artistic and educational movements to under served youth and others through hip hop music and culture.
Leo’s journey through the Bay Area continues to leave traces as he struggles gracefully through gentrification and dealing with the flow of Oakland’s changes. He shuffles through relationships, mindsets, and most importantly, the uphill quest to pay Bay Area rent and take care of his family while making an impact.
